Wake County's Recent Arrest Window
Wake County publishes its newest arrest entries through the Bureau of Forensic Services, formerly CCBI. The public route is the Last 48 Hours of Arrests view. That label matters. A search for Wake County 24 hour arrests reaches a screen that can stretch back two days. Read the arrest date and time on each row. Never assume every entry is from today.
This is a publication window only. It is not a dispatch feed, a calls list, or a roster of everyone held at Wake County Detention Center. The view holds arrest records that have reached the CCBI/BFS system. A listed person may still be in intake. Another may already be released, or may have moved within the jail. When location matters, add a custody check.
Why Wake Arrest Posts Can Lag
A Wake arrest on the street is only step one. Detention staff then handle transport, intake, and identity work. The booking photo and arrest data join the county system after that. Nothing promises a set timeline. The sequence can run long on weekdays, weekends, and county holidays alike.
The CCBI/BFS role explains another gap. A city police page may never show a county booking photograph. Apex Police states plainly that it takes no mugshots. A person arrested there goes to Wake County Detention Center for processing. The Bureau handles information and photo release. The county channel can carry Sheriff and municipal records. Yet not every Wake arrest is promised a spot.
Start with the county. The official recent-record screen is the documented public route. It serves any just-booked or recent arrest check.
Wake County does offer a sheriff's app. The Wake Co Sheriffs Office iOS app handles communication with the agency. Its listing promotes crime reports, tips, public-safety news, and staying connected with residents. Don't expect an inmate lookup there. It also lacks any booking-photo search or feed of everyone arrested in Wake County. Treat it as outreach. The Last 48 Hours view, detention contacts, and NC SAVAN/VINE remain the real record channels. Meanwhile, 911 still takes emergencies, as the app listing itself warns.
A booking photo is narrow too. It fixes intake and identity. That picture holds one moment in time. Treat the official Wake County pages strictly as record tools. They exist for lookup, not for entertainment or a gallery.

The county page displays the recent-record search itself, not a gallery of individual booking photographs.
Check Wake County Arrests Today
Start with the official county source. Keep the question narrow. A recent arrest record tells you whether CCBI/BFS has published an arrest event, not whether the person is still confined, so work these steps in order.
- Open the official Last 48 Hours route and note the retrieval date and time.
- Read the recorded arrest date and time. Do not treat the page title as proof that an entry falls within exactly 24 hours.
- Compare the full name with the agency, charge, age, or other identifiers made available.
- Open the detailed record and note whether CCBI/BFS provides a booking photograph.
- For current local custody, contact Wake detention or use NC SAVAN/VINE.
- For a missing or certified record, use the Wake Bureau of Forensic Services request channel.
A miss means little on its own. Spelling errors, a record still in processing, an entry unknown to the Bureau, an expunction, protected material, or a different booking jurisdiction can all hide an arrest. County-wide paths are laid out on the Wake County recent arrests home page. Start there before giving up.
Wake 48-Hour Arrest Record Fields
The display can shift during a portal transition. Fields listed below come from Wake's historical official guide as possible search or result elements. Not every arrest carries every item. A summary screen may show less than an opened record.
| Record field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Full name | Identity text attached to the arrest entry; confirm it with other available identifiers. |
| Arrest date and time | The recorded event time, not necessarily the public posting time or facility housing time. |
| Arresting agency | The Sheriff, Raleigh Police, Cary Police, Apex Police, or another submitting agency. |
| Charge details | Charges recorded at booking, sometimes with a date, statute, or description. |
| Age, sex, and address | Possible identifying details, subject to the interface and legal limits. |
| Location and officer | Possible arrest-event details, not proof of the later court result. |
| Booking photograph | An intake image that may appear when released; it is not evidence of guilt. |
Read bond and custody labels only when the official result supplies them. A bond figure can move after a hearing. "In custody" is its own question. To see whether a charge was dismissed, reduced, amended, tried, or resolved, follow the filed case through the North Carolina eCourts Portal or the Wake County Clerk.
Note: A booking identifier separates records, but Wake does not guarantee one unchanged public label across portal versions.
Verify Wake County Arrest Custody
When the record is missing, shift to custody channels. The Wake County Detention Division page names Wake County Detention Center and the John H. Baker Jr. Public Safety Center as its adult facilities. Its contacts suit urgent confirmation far better than an old arrest entry. That entry ages fast.
NC SAVAN/VINE adds another path. It can send custody alerts for participating sources. Still, it does not turn a CCBI/BFS record into a live jail roster, and absence from VINE does not prove release. A sentenced person in state prison, probation, or parole belongs in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction search. Federal sentences go to the Bureau of Prisons locator. Each system answers a different question. The official detention page shows the county's custody routing and both facilities.

The detention page confirms where Wake County holds people, without treating a recent arrest record as proof of current custody.
Wake Arrest Portal Access Changes
Wake County's arrest-photo portal is mid-transition. The official CCBI/BFS disclaimer announced a move from internet access to fixed public kiosks. The switch was set for August 17, 2026. It was postponed. County officials promise advance notice once a new date is chosen, so an old direct URL is no promise of online access.
Read the official Wake public-access notice before relying on any recent-arrest view. If the page redirects, follow the county's current instructions. The notice places kiosks at the Wake County Detention Center and the Public Safety Center. A kiosk is only a doorway. It proves access, not that someone is jailed in that building. Certified arrest records come from CCBI/BFS, and sheriff's incident reports sit with WCSO Records.

Wake's kiosk date may change; recheck the notice each visit.
Wake Arrests and Sheriff App
Wake County does offer a sheriff's app. The Wake Co Sheriffs Office iOS app handles communication with the agency. Its listing promotes crime reports, tips, public-safety news, and staying connected with residents. Don't expect an inmate lookup there. It also lacks any booking-photo search or feed of everyone arrested in Wake County. Treat it as outreach. The Last 48 Hours view, detention contacts, and NC SAVAN/VINE remain the real record channels, and 911 still takes emergencies, as the app listing itself warns.
Note: Sheriff news may explain selected events, but it does not certify a complete daily set of Wake County arrests.
After a Wake Arrest Rolls Off
Vanishing from the Last 48 Hours screen doesn't mean a Wake County record was deleted. The county keeps a date-range route for records that stay available, with exports running up to six months per search. The county arrest-record page describes records known to CCBI/BFS since April 27, 2007. Neither promise covers everything. For older events, try the Wake County Arrest Log. It beats the rolling screen for multiple dates. A historical arrest can remain visible after release. It can also shift through a correction, expunction, sealing, protected status, or a source migration, so the court file remains the true record of any charge's outcome.
Wake Arrest Charges Are Accusations
A booking row in Wake County shows one thing plainly. It lists the charge an agency logged at intake. Anything beyond that lives in the court file. Court outcomes are not part of the arrest record itself.
A booking photo is narrow too. It fixes intake and identity. That picture holds one moment in time. Treat the official Wake County pages strictly as record tools. They exist for lookup, not for entertainment or a gallery.
